Stephanie Hansen

Stephanie holds Senior Teacher qualifications in the Iyengar style, at the Junior Intermediate 3 level, with numerous years of experience in teaching and practising yoga, since 1998. She is wealthy in knowledge and experience and holds numerous credentials, some to note:

  • She has been running the Adelaide Hills Yoga School since 2001.

  • Stephanie has also gained a vast amount of knowledge from her regular travels to Pune, in India, to study at the Ramamani Iyengar Yoga Institute, under instruction from members of the Iyengar family

  • Since 2008, Stephanie has had ongoing training with Pixie Lillas in Sydney. She believes it demonstrates her understanding of the importance of strong and positive guidance from an excellent teacher. She also believes that Pixie’s teaching has been invaluable to her as she travels a challenging but highly rewarding Yogic path!


About the course

The focus of the Iyengar Teacher Training Course is to give participants an overall understanding of the methods of teaching asana and pranayama in accordance with the method developed by B.K.S. Iyengar.

The course is designed to:

  • Equip students with the necessary skills to teach in the Iyengar method, and;

  • Benefit students who do not wish to teach, but who wish to further their yoga study and personal practice.

Course duration & time commitment

A high level of commitment is required to complete a teacher training course. Not everyone who commits to the course will want to be a teacher, but the process will be the same for all students in the course.

The course will run over two years and involves 12 weeks of bi-monthly course work, plus personal study between the bi-monthly weekends. There will be a Friday night get together and asana class before the commencement of the course, where students can meet one another and we can establish dates for the first year.

Attendance is required at:

  • One of our retreats, at the student’s expense, and;

  • Weekly asana classes and intensives offered at the school.

  • Opportunities will be provided, once the student shows readiness, to assist in classes.

Students will be expected to keep a journal reflecting personal practice and be diligent when completing homework assignments.
